Tambapanni Academic Publishers responds to a specific scholarly context in Sri Lanka. The country does not have at present an established academic and non-fiction publishing industry. As a result, the kind of professional parameters that should ideally be followed in the case of these kinds of publications are rarely followed. TAP also offers additional services beyond its core emphasis on publishing quality works, which it hopes will play an initial role professionalizing the field of Sri Lankan academic publishing in the long term. These include copy-editing services, translation services, and training workshops on writing and editing.
Copy-editing Services
TAP offers all our contracted authors the services of a professional copyeditor who will ensure that their work is professionally produced. We also offer copy-editing services for other authors working on non-fiction with a focus on academic texts in the social sciences and humanities. Translation Services
Translation is a crucial aspect of knowledge production. This is a core concern of TAP and more so in a country like Sri Lanka with its use of multiple languages in day-to-day communication as well as in publishing. TAP recognizes the centrality of making available to readers in Sinhala and Tamil, knowledge on Sri Lanka currently produced in English and other languages, as well as related aspects of global knowledge. With this in mind, TAP will publish local translations of texts that deal with issues of importance to Sri Lanka. In addition to this, TAP offers services to translate official texts that may be of importance in the corporate, civil society and state sectors. Training Workshops on Writing and Editing
With a view to encourage young scholars, TAP offers its expertise to conduct workshops on writing and editing in different parts of the country. The idea is to help aspiring writers to hone their skills and learn new practices in writing and editing so that the work they produce has a competitive advantage and follows the protocols of academic writing. TAP is interested in collaborating with other partners in organizing and conducting these workshops. At present, this service is only available in English and Sinhala languages.
